Batch #2. Bottled 9/14/16; drank 10/1/16 @ the Yarchvies.
Opaque bruise colored appearance.
Nice tan head; minimal lace.
Honeyed grain & fresh blueberry notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fresh beet & fresh blueberry flavors up front; mildly tart lemon notes on the finish. Pleasant & flavorful; I'd have another!

Ripping on early '90's German hard rock, their sour ale also rips on the norther German classic lactobacillus fermentation for a dry tartness, clean palate and sharp acidity that landed the style as "champagne of the north". But with copious blueberry additions, this berlinerweiss trend fruity and robust at the same time.
The pour is the mauviest mauve that ever mauved; hazy and crowned with a scant, short, spritzy froth. Boistrous blueberry aromas bring a piquant tang to the nose with the underpinnings of pickling spice skirting just below the fruit. Winey, cidery and citrusy, the nose leads to a first sip of pulled candy, taffy, sourdough and true blueberry fruit.
As the taste rolls on, the early must of perfume drifts and the sour fruits pang away at the tastebuds. Lime, lemon, crabapple and gooseberry trend vinous with rose wine and a pep of vinegar. Pickled fruits strike next as the robust blueberry additions carry a taste of peppery currant, blackberry, prune and raspberry. Puckering sourness trails into a nearly clean, but ultimate refreshing session.
Medium bodied and fruit forward, the ale finishes sour and supported with those sourdough and candied tastes. Peppery with vinous spice, light peppercorn and a return of the earthen must of the nose, the ale's aftertaste comes medium quick with a brief after current of damp burlap.

Almost sangria red, mostly opaque, with a moderate, uneven soft light pink head.
Smells like buttery blueberry with a patch of mixed herbs and taffy.
Taste is tart purple grape and blueberry but light and smooth. Again, I taste some butter.
Feel is watery with a semi-dry finish, leaving some bush fruit skins in the aftertaste.

Tasted in a tumbler from draft at the Mikerphone Brewery taproom on May 14, 2017. Look is raspberry red with a thin pink tinted head and little to no lacing. Smell is faint. Taste is sour citrus and sweetened blueberries. Feel is tart.
