Pours a thick completely opaque matte colored brownish orange. Thin white head dissipates steadily leaving no residual head other than a thin ring of foam along the edge of the beer. Some sticky white lacing is left behind.

Smell has notes of orange, mango, papaya, peach and some grassy notes. Very fragrant and fruity.

Taste has some orange, peach, mango and papaya all up front and prominent. Very mellow rindy bitterness towards the back end with some lingering hay and grass. The wheat comes through on that back end, giving the beer an alfalfa like flavor.

Feel is super thick and full bodied - its almost too thick and milkshake like. Medium carbonation - and much needed. Without a vibrant carbonation this beer would be too much.

Overall this is a rather unique pale wheat ale meets NE style IPA mash-up. The wheat adds a ton of body to this and a thick mouthfeel. The fruity hops/flavors are really nice and work really well here. I think this is one of Mikerphone's most underrated beers.

Batch 010

Very cloudy/hazy. Can't see through it at all. It looks and smells more like Orange Juice than beer. It tastes a lot like OJ too. Is there OJ in there? Bitterness comes in at the end. I could drink about 100 glasses of this.

"Batch 010". Bottled 3/29/17; drank 4/5/17 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice eggshell head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.

Mango, banana & orange citrus notes in the nose; fruity & assertive.

Soft medium thick mouthfeel.

Mango, orange citrus & banana flavors up front; faint dry wheat notes on the finish.

VERY fruit forward with a faint dryness for ballast; as good a wheat IPA as I've had. Mikerphone strikes again!

750ml bottle, batch #2, poured into a Mikerphone stemmed teku-esque glass. Enjoyed on 12.6.16, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a bright orange color, hazy and cloudy with copper hues and a firm white head, two fingers high that has good retention and excellent lace. The aroma is big on citrus peel, tropical fruits, passionfruit and guava mostly with some pineapple, wildflower, wheat and cereal grains, light bitterness with some piney, green hop that lingers. The flavors burst with hops, tropical, bright, juicy and really flavorful, passionfruit, citrus peel, pineapple, grassy and green hop character, a bit of pine, some floral notes, gets increasingly dank as it warms with sweet grains that linger. The bitterness is really restrained here and is definitely more on the sweeter side. The mouthfeel is good, coating medium body has nice legs, lively yet gentle on the tongue with a smooth finish that has a nice dry kick.

Verdict: A really good IPA from Mikerphone, definitely the first time I've felt like the hype has been achieved. Juicy, pungent, bright and refreshing, all the good qualities a solid IPA needs.

L: Hazy orange is the right way to describe it. To me the color is great. It pours a decent head up front, but the one thing I'd say - the head dissipates more quickly than the best pale ales I've had.
S: Melon and some other citrus. Orange probably. But melon first. I'm a big Tree House fan and this beer comes the closest to their nose of any I can think of.
T: Similar to the smell. Devoid of bitterness If I wanted to pick more nits, it's just a bit too sweet and a could use a tad more hop flavor than the sweet taste I'm getting.
F: I don't know if I'd say chewy. But it's plenty of full-bodied.
O: I've had both batch 2 pre-brewery and the "batch 10" from the new brewery. A wheat beer isn't my favorite, but when it's done well, Gumball Head and this one stand out to me.

Fresh 750 ml bottle purchased personally. Was told it was bottled the day before and delivered to the shop that day. Based on that, I drank the bottle 5 days after bottling. In a fluted snifter.

Orange with a brown tint. Foamy head, about an inch and a half. Large bubbles, pop themselves out quickly into sudsy ring around the glass. Haze and near opaque.

Aroma is mostly tropical fruits and a sweetness that seems like it is from the malt. A bit of citrus zest and spiciness.

The flavor has a noticeable "old" tropical fruit taste, like mango's left in the sun that started to ferment. Very disappointed after high hopes. Shared between 3 people and none thought it was an enjoyable flavor. Has a surprising booziness for the listed ABV.

Moderate carbonation appropriate for the style and a nice mouthfeel. Full, but not thick or syrupy.

Was recommended, had high hopes, big disappointment in flavor. I hope that other batches are better.
