This is a case of a beer that changed over time since I last drank it a few weeks ago. I think I had one at a recent bottle share, definitely know I brought a bottle to Dark Lord and it amazed us how juicy it was. Seems a little less juicy at the end of May, more like a standard black IPA. Still tasty. Pours thick and foamy, looks like a stout. Smell is more dark malt than anything else. Taste is tangy and malty with a mild juicy backing. There's a alcohol presence fighting it out with a mellow feel. Good beer, but I think it was great when fresh.

Batch 014. Released 4/8/17; drank same day @ the Yarchives.
Muddy brown/black appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice dark tan head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Medium roast coffee bean, tart orange citrus & mild banana notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Cream, medium roast coffee bean & orange citrus flavors up front; dry grass & mild booze heat notes on the finish.
Yep, a black IPA alright, and not one to convert the doubters. Drinkable but not one I'd return to.
