750 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Had 8/30/18.
Pours a dark brown, opaque, with a half inch foamy head and soapy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla, light marshmallow and toffee. Has a nutty aroma. Uh- oh, tasting a little off- flavor sourness. Flavors of coffee, malt, cocoa, chocolate, some vanilla, a little pistachio. Started out smooth, creamy, and well carbonated with a good full body, but really deteriorated while working through the bottle.
I took the notes for this review prior to the brewery saying there was something wrong. It’s a shame, because this seems like it woud be really good when normal. Still had a very good aroma and look.

The bottle had gotten a bit off, but was still good. If it had been done deliberately, I'd have had no complaint.
It is nice that Mikerphone is acknowledging that it wasn't "right" and doing a stand up job of making it as "right" as possible for its customers.

Twice, first on tap at Mikerphone, second a month or two later in a bottle. I'm rating the one I had at Mikerphone.
L: Dark black with a tan head with a slight greenish hue
S: Amazing - a huge hit of pistachio and coffee in the face
T: Roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and lots of coffee, a little nuttiness - great. The bottle I had later was sour at the end though.
F: Goes down really easy with a smooth finish
O: The beer I had on tap at Mikerphone was a great stout that I'd drink over and over again. The bottle I had later was sour. It was properly stored, so I don't know why it would be sour. Possibly infected? I don't know, but I had to dump it.

Jet black pour with little head. Smell is chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet upfron and back. Get the pistachio on the back end. Very smooth. I like this.

On tap at the brewery - Elk Grove Village, IL. Pitch black pour with a foamy tan head. Bold coffee and pistachio aromas with cocoa and roast; very sweet smelling. Sweet flavors as well: dark chocolate, creamed coffee, nutty pistachio, roasted barley, brown sugar, molasses, caramel, and modest earthy hops. Full and thick, creamy body, smooth carbonation, sweet through the finish. Really good; worth the try.

Tasted in a tumbler from draft at the Mikerphone Brewing tap room on July 8, 2018. Brewed with pistachio, cocoa nibs and Tugboat Sumatra coffee. A nice blend of aromas and flavors.
