poured from a 750mL bottle into an oversized snifter. pours pitch black. thick-looking. some pockets of air bubbles in the glass that eventually settle out. smells like a peanut butter sandwich. there’s no fruit in this beer so it must be the maple syrup. do not smell much coffee. little bit of booze sting. taste is kind of a scrambled mess. it’s maple forward with the coffee in the back ground. the peanut butter is even further in the background. and it all really doesn’t mesh that well together. doesn’t taste terrible but i was looking for more peanut butter. mouthfeel is solid on this beer. the look and feel are it’s saving grace. glass is stained as liquid is consumed and feel is full with the right amount of carbonation. overall, a little let down at the peanut butter aspect of this one. i haven’t had much mikerphone but i suspect the coffee and maple-only bean spirits are the way to go. it’s still an enjoyable beer and perhaps it’s my own fault for expecting more peanut butter than there was but it’s possible that more peanut butter isn’t the answer and that the combination of coffee, maple and peanut butter just isn’t meant to be.

poured into a taster glass via draft at Other Half's Pastry Town (3/16/2019)
Color is dark roast coffee brown with tan foam
Smell is peanut butter and chocolate
Taste is more of an artificial peanut butter mixed in with bakers chocolate
Low carbonation
Medium mouthfeel
Based on reviews i heard and saw for the other Smells Like Bean Spirits, this was a bit of a let down..was hoping for more of a PB punch

This is surprisingly roasty, with notes of cacao, while the peanut butter is mild but helping to make the maple less forward--by a lot--which is a good thing for this particular beer. The thick body has plenty of charred coffee and finishes semi-dry.

Strong peanut butter aroma. Taste... not so much. Really burnt, huge acrid roast in flavor and mouthfeel. Just doesn't taste good. Overall, messy and has no balance.
Not sure why the ratings are so high on this one. Pretty bad.

Tasted in a 6 oz sampler glass from draft at Mikerphone Brewing on March 1, 2019. Breakfast stout brewed with Tugboat Sumatra coffee, Vermont maple syrup and peanut butter. Thankfully the peanut butter is subtle. Nice full body.
