Mikerphone Brewing "Stunna"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
$4.99 @ Sandy's Shack Express, Ocala, FL
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a double dry hopped pale ale with Citra and Lotus hops at 6% ABV. It's poured a very hazy golden body beneath a short head of white foam. The aroma is softly citrusy and almost vanilla-like. The taste is surprisingly similar, but of course fuller. The citrus is like both orange and lemon-lime, and the vanilla remains. That's from the Lotus hops. The malt is grainy and lightly oat-like. I can't tell if there's any wheat involved but that's usually the case; this seems fairly light though. As it warms I'm getting some more fruitiness that includes passion fruit, melon, and mango. It's moderately bitter leaving it sweetish upfront but still dry in the finish. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and crisp. There's some carbonation there but I feel as if both the head retention and lacing could be better. It's an interesting and somewhat unusual beer while still remaining stunningly accessible. It's quite easy to drink while still satisfying the taste buds. Of course that comes at a cost so the real question is how much you like the hops they've used. Citra is currently the most popular hop in the U.S. right now so that should appeal to a large crowd.

16oz can, no apparent freshness date. Pale yellow and opaque body with a frothy white head. Juicy and tropical fruit aroma: passion fruit, pineapple, citrus. Flavors are juicy and tropical as well; quite refreshing: passion fruit, pineapple, lemon-lime, melon; mild biscuity malt comes through more as it warms. Light-to-medium body, moderate carbonation, hop forward yet well balanced. This was good, but because there are so many other better beers from Mikerphone I could see this getting lost in the mix.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a crowler on March 23, 2019. Double dry-hopped American pale ale brewed with Citra and Lotus hops. Hazy with a nice APA bitterness.
