Surprisingly this is the first beer I’m trying from Mikerphone, and it sounds like a fun starting point. It’s a straightforward pastry style Berliner Weisse, just strawberry and peanut butter. Let’s crack it open and find out what it has to offer
Pours an opaque pinkish orange with a finger of off white head that immediately fades to nothing and leaves no lacing. It kinda looks like puke
The nose is rather basic but I can’t really complain, it accomplishes what it sets out to do. I’m picking up on aromas of jammy strawberry, peanut butter, vanilla bean, bready malt, orange juice, and light lemon zest
It’s somehow even more bland in taste, surprising given that sours like this aren’t known for showing restraint. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting jammy strawberry, lemon juice, cereal grain, roasted peanut, and orange juice. The swallow brings notes of jammy strawberry, peanut butter, bread crust, vanilla bean, and orange juice
A light medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry and refreshing despite the lack of flavor
This one isn’t bad, just painfully mediocre. Not a great first showing from Mikerphone
