Self Titled was a big release from Mikerphone back in 2020. I saw that they were collaborating with Maplewood on a maple stout so I had to go pick up a few. It is maple bomb that completely takes over the beer. The sugar level is so high that might need to age in order to come down.

Poured from a crowler: shimmering black body, brown collar. Smell is a maple syrup bottle when you first open it while holding it up to your nose, huge! Some cinnamon lingers, no barrel at all. Taste is undrinkable, sugary maple overkill, only sign of barrel is sugary brown sugar/molasses roadkill with cinnamon adding a finishing insult to the palate. Just drink maple syrup from the bottle, it will be better. Feel is saccharine in beer form, again no barrel, no warmth, even the malts are overwhelmed. Forget diabetic nightmare this will put anyone in a sugar coma

Brother in law brought this to a family gathering. Good lord, is it sweet. Pure maple syrup. There’s also supposed to be cocoa and cinnamon in it. I get cinnamon but not much cocoa. Barrel presence is subtle. But my god, this has so much maple that I want to put it on a stack of pancakes. I can see how people have said it’s too sweet. Good, but needs a decade or two to ease up on the maple.
