Shimmering midnight black with a brown collar. Amazing barrel aromas: rustic and deep dark oak, bourbon in all of it's glory, molasses, dark chocolate, vanillins, touch of rye, earth and char. Taste has the same ingredients plus some light caramelization to the vanilla and molasses, but booze is not as powerful, rather it is barrel forward the whole way while melding in and elevating the other flavors. Feel is not as built out in the malt as other ba stouts of this ilk, and while this lets the barrel shine, it leaves moments of dry thinness as it warms. Clearly the barrel carries, but a little more body would make this legendary. Really enjoyed this one, just might be mikerphone's best ba stout of all time
