Pours a thick, smoothie like consistency. Completely opaque. The color is a drab, matte dark purple color. No head whatsoever. Aroma is blueberry, blackberry, generic berry, sour yogurt, light wheat notes - its not particularly sweet, but there is some fruity sweetness to the beer.

Taste follows the nose with notes of blueberries, boysenberry, blackberry, all bending together to give this lovely bright berry driven sour profile. Light notes of wheat underly the berry notes with a moderate sourness. Feel is thick, full bodied, smoothie like is about right. Lots of fruit sediment is palpable. Bright, prickly carbonation.

Overall its a fruit bomb of a beer.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

My first car was a Blender V4. Anyway, this stuff pours an opaque eggplant smoothie topped by a half-finger of magenta foam (make no mistake, though, this stuff wanted out of the can at all times, with gusto). The nose comprises tart raspberry, dank blueberry, a hint of cranberry, and some vague nutmeg-like spicy sweetness in the background. The taste brings in more of the same, but any hint of tartness is ratcheted down, eliciting the old blue raspberry flavor I used to love so much in my youth (particularly in Blow Pops, Jolly Ranchers, and even, toward the end of what could charitably be called by childhood, Runts). It doesn't quite work here, what with the stronger promise teased by the smell. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a just-shy-of-chewy feel. Overall, a solid smoothie Berliner, but one that doesn't really do much to wow.
