This blend of barrel-aged barleywine and imperial stout aged just over 17 months in Heaven Hill and Templeton Rye barrels. Volume 1 is more barleywine forward with beautiful stout characteristics woven throughout. Notes of sugary, roasted pralines are followed by chocolate covered raisins, plum and brown sugar.

Look - slightly brown, mostly back with fantastic rimming and lacing
Smell and taste - lot of barrel with a slight dark fruit toffee
Feel - right between a stout and a BW, thicker than normal BW and lighter than a stout, nice
Overall - nice simple ba blend

poured from a 750mL bottle into a taster glass. pours a barleywine brown with minimal head. great barrels notes along with toffee, plums, raisins and a hint of vanilla and caramel on the nose and taste. fairly light but sticky mouthfeel. much heavier on the barleywine aspect than stout. if i didn’t know any better i’d mistake this for straight barleywine. either way, it was very tasty.

Had on tap. Brownish black with a tan head with sheets of lazy lacing. Getting caramel dipped dark fruit, toffee, chocolate malt, and barley, all backed by molasses and brown sugar full bourbon and mild oak. Taste is much the same, but the gooey caramel/bourbon/dark fruit combo is so deep and lush, all other elements from the nose simply orbit this core. Feel is lush, smooth, warm, thick and chewy but finish need a touch more booze for the style. A strong ale with intentional direction and decadence. This might be the best beer mikerphone has ever made
