Imperial stout aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for 18 months and conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, cassia bark and habanero and ancho peppers.

poured from a 500mL bottle into a perennial snifter. pours a dense, oily black with the thinnest layer of mocha foam that recedes quickly into nothing. rich chocolate with faint vanilla and a touch of cinnamon spice on the nose. smells delicious but i don’t get a ton of bourbon but it’s there. taste follows with the chocolate and cinnamon leading the way into a spicy, bourbon and pepper finish. the pepper spice burn really hits you after a few seconds. and it lingers for far too long. what shame as the aromas and mouthfeel are quite excellent. and even the taste initially is really good but that pepper burn - whoo. not my thing.
