500ml bottle, 2024 release, poured into a stemless wine glass. Enjoyed on 05.11.2024, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a nice jet black color, super thick and sludgy with no head nor lacing. The aroma is great, huge chocolate, lots of bourbon spirit, charred oak, caramel, brown sugar, spicy spirit, stone fruits. The flavors are excellent, super smooth chocolate, rich and decadent with an incredible barrel character, warm oak, earthy, charred wood, bold spirit that doesn't feel hot, stone fruits, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla and lots of grain. The mouthfeel is good, coating, creamy, thick, chewy heavy body with a warm smooth finish.
Verdict: An excellent barrel aged stout from Mikerphone and Toppling Goliath. Massive barrel character that really shows off the wood and spirits rather than feeling boozy or hot. Great complexity and depth while showing wonderful balance.

500 ml bottle into a snifter. Had 5/17/24.
Pours near black and opaque, with a brief head and light foamy cling. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, some vanilla and oak, light tobacco and char. Flavors of bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, light oak. There’s a bit of a sweet note. Smooth, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.
Very good overall, with really tasty barrels. Sweeter than expected, though. Quite enjoyable.

Had on tap. Pitch black stout pour with a brown collar. Smell captures the mix of bourbons with emphases of earthy smoke, molasses, rustic oak and with supporting notes of dark bitter chocolate, char, rye, caramel and a hint of peat. Taste dives more into the weller barrel more with the earthy, smoky, charred, peaty and rustic notes emphasized up front, rye bridges to the more typical molasses and caramel lined oakiness to finish, but the weller never loses its grip on the palate. A little on the warmer side, I would age the bottle a couple of months if I had one. Otherwise barrel driven, moments of sharpness dot the lush full and heavy body, elevated in refined smoothness
