I have to say, immediately upon opening the bottle the aromas of maple, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla and bourbon are incredible, the maple and cinnamon in particular just sing, darker cocoa, char, earth, and oak support. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Taste confirms, this is the best spirit beer mikerphone has done in years! Maple, cinnamon, coffee, chocolate and molasses wash over the palate lushly, with bourbon, oak, slight char, more coffee, and vanillins round out. If there was a touch more balance we would be having a HOF conversation. Feel is the achilles heal though, thinner and coffee dominates, cutting the barrel complexity and leaving the finish to be blasé
