Always happy when a Mikerphone bottle/can bobs to the top of the consumption list. Even better when it’s kissed a barrel. Or three.
This one’s a 500ML black-waxed bottle that pours with a moderate amount of sassy head for a big stout. Nose is barrel: rye, bourbon, char. Nice start.
Sir Blends A-Lot #5 is a promising addition to the series. Sticky, & like the nose, full of barrel. The spicy rye barrels come out on top, but there’s plenty of bourbon bite underneath. The supporting stout is rich, sweet, malty, chocolatey. After the seventh sip, the alcohol begins to creep into the cracks of the brainpan. Halfway through it seems this is an appropriate serving size, but ask me again in a half hour. And tomorrow morning.
This could be an everyday drinker. Delicious barrel + lovely base equals an excellent stout.
