Im sampling a cold crowler of this beer that I brought back from a recent visit to PA.
The beer is poured into my snifter and is a clear copper hue with a fluffy eggshell white head foaming up 4 cm and fading to nothing very quickly after the pour, leaving only a few wispy islands on the surface of my beer.
the aroma on the brew is a little on the mild side, maybe it will get more release with the warming of my glass. The notes I do get are a bit of grainy malt and a bit of caramel. The hops come next with some grassy and herbal notes and a little bit of dank vegetal hits as well, maybe a little different kind of herb. ;)
First sip reveals a fairly light and crisp body with fine tingly carbonation. Very easy to drink and smooth texture.
The flavor is sweeter than I anticipated with some caramel and a bit of light fruitiness that I didnt see coming from the nose. The flavor gets a little grainy and gives just a bit of herbal hops. SUrprised there isnt more hop flavor here but there is a bit that shows up on the swallow with a bit of general astringency rolling across my palate. No hits of alcohol and the beer is super easy to drink. I am enjoying this beer but it wasnt totally what I expected from the name and the style.
Another tasty brew from a good brewery. Worth checking out along with several of the other beers on tap. Although the beer doesnt reveal its flavor from the nose it is well made and very drinkable, worth a shot.
