Drank it from the can (I know, so uncouth), but I didn’t have one available. It looks medium amber from what I saw on top of the can.
Smells fairly strong of Carmel malts. Brown sugar, a slight toasted bread smell. Smells nice.
Taste is as advertised, it is strong. There’s a lot of caramel malt sweetness that’s balanced by a large amount of early addition hops. It’s a pretty intense flavor profile. The bitterness is harsh, you’ll feel every single 55 of the ibu’s. If you’re not used to stronger flavored beers, this beer will knock your dick in the dirt.
I enjoyed this beer, I wish they would come up with a better category for beers like this. Perhaps we need an Imperial Amber Ale category. Too me, strong ale sounds too much like “malt liquor”.
You’re not going to pound these down, definitely not sessionable.

Pours a clear dark amber color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is very mild. Lacing is decent. Apple aroma with brown sugar. Sweet apple taste. More bitter brown sugar on the end. Light to medium bodied with mild to moderate carbonation.

Arrogant Bastard it is not, but not too bad. Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Brownish amber color with good head and lacing. Subdued toffee smell and taste. A bit earthy and malty. It has potential.

Nice top and bottom, some missing punch in the middle. Still nice, very drinkable.
