To supply the British troops in India, IPAs were brewed with more hops and higher in alcohol as natural preservatives for the ales to last for the long journey. Brewed with top fermenting yeast.

Drunk fresh at the source (with quite the view!) in October 2023.
L: Hazy orange in the glass with a thin, bright-white head. No carbonation can be seen in the glass.
S: Orange, Mandarin, pine.
T: orange peel, grapefruit peel, resin, orange, marmalade and bitter citrus, which at first blush I don't associate with an English IPA, but then I consider the peel and marmalade aspects and change my mind...). Moderate and smooth bitterness.
M: Very smooth. Carbonation and prickly at an absolute minimum and matching the orange notes of the beer very well.
O: A very tasty, bitter, yet very smooth IPA.
