Picked this up a few weeks ago at the Super Buy Rite in Jersey City, as I can't honestly say that I've ever had a beer from the Philippines before. It's not often that I have an American Amber / Red Ale either and this one crossed off all of the proverbial check boxes too without breaking any new ground at the same time.

Of course, this poured a chestnut red with a nice clarity to it and plenty of tan, offsetting head topping it off. That was thick, but settled quickly, as there wasn't any lacing left down the side of my pint glass. A good amount of dark bread and typical malts were in the nose as this came across as just a bit fruity and sticky - which is what this felt like when I took the first sip. Some hops and apple were on top of the sweetness and fresh-baked undertone that I felt as this finished like a lager without a lot of heft or carbonation to muddle things up.

There was booze and I felt warmer when drinking this but it was not a distraction from the simple nature of this beer. No date was given on the bottom of the can but this felt and tasted fresh as it was quite easy to kick back with. While not deep or complicated, this was perfectly serviceable and accessible with just a bit of hoppy and fruity slickness left on my palate. Glad I was able to give this a try!

A nice tasty amber ale with a good balance of maltiness and hops.
A = Amber with a slight haze. Nice 1/4" foam head on the pour with sporadic lacing on the glass.
S = Sweet & roasty with a touch of hops and bread.
T = Same as above with a clean refreshing finish.
M = Very smooth and drinkable considering the 7% ABV content. Slightly boozy.
O = I like this and would buy it again. It is a delicious enjoyable amber ale.
