Picked this up last week at Gary's as I hadn't had much from 902 before and this looked quite interesting What's Kviek? I had no idea and even after tasting this, I'm still learning but I can honest say that this wasn't quite like any IPA that I ever had before. That was a good thing as I really enjoyed this beer and how dry and European it tasted and felt!

Not a bad pour to this as the hue to this was golden with loads of soft head topping it off as a bit of dark sediment settled at the bottom right after I set the liquid down. That took quite a while to settle as the lacing was rocky and extensive from the top half of my pint glass down to about the middle, with some scattered splotches below that. Loads of Kviek yeast in the nose along with good amount of grass, grain, and some exotic fruit as this certainly was not typical from the get-go! Some grape entered the fray in the taste was quite earthy and a bit like wine, while being very dry throughout. A hint of spicy bread was there to complement everything else as the carbonation was moderately light and not enough to keep the palate scrubbed of flavor.

There was a decent amount of booze here although it was never tasted or felt, and would have had to have been quite high to overtake the yeast that gave this beer it's trademark characteristic. While this wouldn't be for everyone, it was great to have something different for a change. Canned on 8/10 with "SKOL!" (any Vikings fans out there?) written underneath it, I give props to 902 for thinking outside of the box with this one. Fine for a change as long as a chaser of water is nearby!
