This is the biggest beer we've brewed to date. Clocking in at 10.7%, we loaded this grain bill with dark, roasty, chocolate malts. We tucked some away in a barrel from our buddies u/corgispirits , then aged the rest for a few months until we decided it was go time. It's dark, rich, thick, and delicious.

Pours dark black, opaque. One finger of dark foam if poured somewhat aggressively. Coffee and chocolate on the nose. Lots of burnt coffee bitterness on finish. ABV well hidden.

Poured from undated, 500 ML bottle into a stout glass. I believe it was released in June 2020 so it's approximately six months old. It pours a very dark walnut, approaching black, with a finger of fluffy, medium-khaki head and thick, creamy lacing. The nose is roasty with chocolate/cocoa, burnt nuts, char, and the faintest hint of dark fruit. The taste opens with the same roasted malt and chocolate notes. It's quite sweet initially but the sweetness is balanced by burnt char and earthy nuts. I like the dark fruit notes: black cherry and perhaps fig. It finishes with considerable bitterness. It almost seems like two separate stouts at the beginning and end. The mouth feel is thick and viscous with lite carbonation, and the 10.7% ABV is warming but not overpowering. Overall, Welcome to Jersey City's best attributes are its Look and Feel. I don't mind bitterness but in this case it's a bit much at the finish.
