Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, dark chocolate, light coffee, cinnamon and mild hot pepper. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, cocoa, drip coffee, semi-dry finish with lingering deep malt and cocoa. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A fine looking dark stout that had a deceptive spicy aroma (I don't know why I got mild pepper burn, maybe the alcohol?), almost smelled like Mexican chocolate. The flavor is much closer to a foreign stout profile with dry, dark malt, although with a much deeper malt body than that style. Full flavored and solid. Looks, smells and tastes quite good. Only a few Mexican craft breweries seem to make it over the border, and this is one of the better ones I've tried. Next time I'm in California, I will sampling more varieties from Fauna.

Draft at the resort in Mexico
Light fizzy head, lower retention, dark brown almost black color
Nose tons of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee, roasted malt, little spicy cinnamon pepper like, probably mole,
Taste big chocolate, roasted cocoa and roasted coffee, roasted malt, not char, creamy lactose, then more spicy cinnamon and pepper, again mole like, little fudgey, med bitterness
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med to a bit lighter carb, light warming alcohol
Overall for a mole stout this was quite tasty

Black beer with a brown head that lasts. The smell is that of chocolate, little coffee and dried fruit.
The taste is that of dark chocolate and coffee, then a bitterness from the hops and finish a bit toasty-astringent.
The body is medium full and a little silky, with medium carbonation.
