Map40 is a Belgian-style stout blended with cold brew coffee. Black in body with a tan, reddish-tinged head, this beer’s aroma is strong in coffee and light in roasted grain. Brewed with dark chocolate malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, and brown malt. A light nuttiness accompanies tastes of chocolate, raisin, and a resounding coffee note that weaves its way throughout. This is a rich, creamy, stout with a warming hint of alcohol in its clean finish.

Almost black in color. Nice, beige head. Roasted malt, phenols(probably from Belgian yeasts ), and coffee in aroma. Sweet and malty taste with flavors of coffee and chocolate. Moderate, roasted bitterness at the end.

Had this draft at Quench, my new favorite craft beer bar in Silver Spring MD. Velvety smooth, subtle chocolate raisin and good coffee notes. I’ll be back.

Properly rich and flavorful, with the light body and finish of a Belgian Dark. Has all the delicious aspects of a roasty stout and a slightly sweet and spiced dark ale. Lots of malt with tasty hints of coffee throughout. Very nice!

Most certainly one of the best ever. Very well done from start to finish. Stout. Belgian. Coffee. Drink easy, drink slow......gets better as it warms. Coffee adds the perfect compliment to this black ale. Buy more than you think, its that good.

A- 16oz can pours into a snifter with a deep brown to black body and a very nice thick and creamy cap. The head makes it to an inch high with great retention. Tons of beautiful webs of lacing down the glass.
S- Righteous coffee aroma. Nothing stale or remotely grounds-like about it. Just smooth and fresh coffee with a light-medium roast to it. A bit of a milky/vanilla sweetness as well as toasted nutty, toffee, cereal and dark fruits. Roast grains and chocolate as well as hints of Belgian yeast.
T- As with the aroma the coffee and chocolate notes are the driving force and then the malts round it out some more along side a bit of yeast influence. Yeast picks up just a bit with some more Belgian yeast spice coming out with dark dried fruits. The coffee is again oh so fresh and well brewed playing nicely with a bit of a sweetness. Nuttiness, dark chocolate, toffee, brown sugar, roast barley and toasted bread.
MF- A puffy medium bodied brew with a very smooth and creamy texture. Carbonation is quite high but it hits the taste buds so softly.
Amazing coffee aroma and the rest is what you should come to expect from Allagash. Fresh and beautiful coffee with a toasty to roasty malt profile that brings some great chocolate flavor. All balanced with expertise.
