Color is like that of a med-light roast coffee, with a foamy and smooth head light tan in color. Slightly funky smelling, has that traditional lactic acid smell of a sour, and a hint of coffee and malt. Taste wise it is quite interesting. Very tart upfront and dry. Roasty, malty notes reminiscent of a stout is tasted. The alcohol is very well hidden, only slightly noticeable on the end. There's notes of plums and stone fruit lingering on the palate. The beer is well carbonated, but thin almost. Overall not the worst I've had but not my favorite Allagash either.

One of, if not, my favorite beers out there. Incredible plum and stone fruit flavor, with a light champagne-like effervescence.

Pours a deep dark brown with reddish hue only visible when raised to the light. Khaki head with excellent retention. Nose features artificial grape, blonde roasted coffee, and lactic tart aromas. The first thing I notice is that it is super dry. It's got a touch of roast and a lactic kind of red grape, fake artificial grape flavor. Finishes with a resiny grape skin note. Despite its abv, the heat is well hidden only appearing in a slightly warming form on the finish. As it says on the label, it is balanced. Not sure this is my favorite Allagash, but it's certainly well-made.
