Poured from 2 week old can into tulip. Unusual clear, burnt orange hue with a light head.
Aroma of orange peel, malt, cardamom.
Nice mouthfeel, medium body and prickly carbonation.
Interesting flavor profile. The orange zest is very forward, riding on a good malt backbone. The borboun aging is subtle, with no alchohol burn.
The brewer had a clear objective and largely succeeding in achieving the boulevardier profile. A much stronger borboun profile would have been forgivable with that in mind but the result is a very smooth, integrated ale that is much better for that restraint.
