Hops grow swiftly at the start of Spring. We capture all their lush, citrusy and resinous glory alongside a generous grain bill in this amber-colored IPA. We hope you'll take your time in enjoying Swiftly.

S: grapefruit and Belgian yeast;

T: grapefruit dominates from start to tinish; some earthy notes early with a hint of Belgian yeast at the end; mild to moderate bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: an interesting and different take on the style;

Clear, amber color. Big, off-white head, Caramel malt, citrus, and pine in the aroma. The taste is on the malty side. Pleasent, moderate hoppy bitterness. Soft and easy drinkable

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is amber, transparent, head is very light tan and presents 1/4 inch thick, head dissipates to thin top with some moderate lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is moderate/strong malt with a woody and strong toasted malt character, really quite unique; hops come as backing with earth, resin, juniper, light spiced/herbal character.

Taste is similarly forward malt flavor with toast, toffee, and earthy/rye malt like flavor; hops are earthy, resinous, herbal and some light floral; light aged fruit sweetness comes through with warmth.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness; really a classic IPA malt sweetness/hop bitterness balance in the realm of English/East Coast stylings.

Overall a very well done amber IPA - hoppy, malty, bitter, sweet, balanced with an herbal/woody quality that makes it stand out.

Clear amber, nice off-white head, great retention and lacing
Grapefruit and orange zest and pine needle hop aroma, some maltiness
Deep caramel maltiness, some dried fruit, a bit of citrus
Medium bodied, appropriate carbonaton, drinkable
Definite throwback to the OG East Coast IPAs, good

This poured a little foamy from a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug. But, this time worries that it's barley malt deprived run low. The head is light biege, resting upon a bright caramel brown liquid that straddles the line between translucent and opaque. The aroma is hoppy and malty, with traces of Belgian-style yeast. This is the way it tastes, too. It's pleasantly hoppy in a resinous way, with some citrus influences. There's malt, too, but it's not overly sweet. Nor is the mouthfeel much effected by the malting, as it's thin. Maybe the foam was a clue. after all. The yeast inclusion isn't very much like Belgian. Overall, it's a mild tasting IPA that isn't too hoppy and probably could use a little more malt to improve the body and less so, the taste. This has one consistent flavor from onset through its finish. Of course, the hops linger a little longer at the back end of the finish. Minor complaint about the body aside, this drinks much like a traditional IPA should.

Pours amber-colored haze with khaki white colored huge pillowy foam cloud from 16 oz tall pint can. Notes of citrus infused malty coffee help tame the hoppy perk. Another great brew from top notch Allagash.

Glad I grabbed this fairly fresh after seeing it posted several times. Very much enjoying the old-school style gaining a little shelf space, and this surely did not disappoint. All the style characteristics PLUS their unique yeast strain effects has this one as a winner in my book. Yum.
