16oz canned 7/31/25, opened 12/28/25.
1 finger beige head with good retention.
Glowing amber beer with the first decanted pour - very good clarity. Wispy and spotty lacing.
Bready, spicy, fruity. Good aroma but not near as expressive as the flavor to come.
Fruity with a spicy zing upon first sip. Dried cherry, pear, gingerbread, yeasty, and bready...overall delicious.
Medium body and carbonation. Somewhat slick mouthfeel. Flavorful brew with an off-dry finish.
Outstanding.

Taste is bready, fruity and spicy. Notes of brown bread, dried fruit, banana candy and knäckebröd. Moderate bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium with frothy carbonation.
Overall, a very nice modern Belgian.

Deep amber colour with a large creamy head.
Aroma: sweet malt, floral notes, yeast, esters.
Taste: yeast, esters, smooth malt, caramel, floral notes.
Drank it in a titanium cup while camping in the mountains. The beer is a bit cold for all the flavours to develop. But won't get warmer in this weather.

Excellent beer as is almost always the case from Allagash. The color threw me off a bit because it's much paler in color than any dubbel I've seen. The fruity esters from the yeast, special malts and dark candi sugar are there though and that's really all that matters. Allagash's dubbel was a favorite when it was in their regular production years ago. Somehow I remember it a bit darker and richer. Foliage report might not be as robust or estery as say Chimay Red or Westmalle dubbel but it's a very good interpretation of the style. It was really nice with thanksgiving leftovers. I will have to save some for christmas. It goes really well holiday fare- roasted meat, cheese, root veggies, etc. Very glad I was able to get my hands on some at the brewery.
