Pours a deep gold color with a bit of haze. Head was pillowy white foam at first. Falls to a massive ring at the edge with a thin cap over the surface. The foam at the edge paints the glass.
Smell is of honey and coffee. Lots of both. Some bready malt. There's a little fruit that struggles through - vaguely peach or apricot but it's hard to pick out. Faint spice.
The taste is really different. The coffee is strong and it's carrying sort of a green/grassy taste. Sweetness is also strong - honey. The fruit is stronger in the flavor and it's pretty clearly apricot. Some bready malt sneaks through. There's a white pepper spice and a touch of resin way at the tail end. Not getting much Allagash yeast signature.
Feel is medium bodied. Smooth carbonation, a little creamy.
Not quite sure what to make of this. It's a very odd, non-Belgian but maybe leaning to Belgian flavor profile going on here. Interesting and a toss up - I like it but wish I had bought a single.
