On July 8, 2013, Team BeerAdvocate ventured to Portland, Maine to brew the official Belgian Beer Fest beer at Allagash Brewing Company. In keeping with our tradition of creating two unique beers out of one, the base beer was brewed with a 2-row blend, raw and malted wheat and oats, hopped with a blend of Northern Brewer, Nelson Sauvin and Glacier hops and 100% fermented in Portuguese Douro wine barrels.
Tweeling (Dutch for "Twin") is a straw colored ale brewed fermented with Dutch Castle yeast. The finished beer has a pleasant fruity aroma with hints of pear, pineapple and an herbal note in the background. The fruit continues though the flavor with the addition of a mild biscuity character. Full mouthfeel and dry, lingering bitterness.

NOTF notes
A-Pours a cloudy straw color. Head is formed, despite the small sample.
S-Aroma is pretty tame. Light wheat. Very subtle barny funk. Not really picking up a ton of wine barrel notes. Bits of fruit and a yeast/bread finish.
T-Flavor is again quite mellow. Apples or pears. Wheat. Mild funkiness. Finishes with a white breadiness.
M-Decent carbonation. Agreeable mouthfeel.
O/D-Wanted a bit more here, maybe my pallate was a bit sour-shocked but still, too bland somehow.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
