Love that this shop is on the way to Vintage Estates. Such a great selection and great service. Can't say enough about them. Great selection of American Craft and Imports with a lot of interesting singles to pick from.

I honestly hate to hype this place up, only because it is my favorite beer store and the best kept secret in eastern OH! lol. The vibe rates only 3.5, because, well, it's just a store. BUT- the best prices around, by far. Friendly, knowledgable staff, and they have a great selection. If you are in the boardman area and ISO craft beer, do not pass this place up.

I grew up in Boardman, and when I visit home I usually fly into Pittsburgh. Chalet Premier is right off of my turnpike exit, so this is almost always my first stop when I get to town.

Keep in mind, this place is/was a liquor store long before the craft beer boom, and they've just added the craft component in the last 5-6 years. However, for the limited space they devote to it, they do a great job of maintaining a good/great selection, especially for this random corner of NE Ohio.

I can tell you that you won't visit for the atmosphere. Not that it's bad. It's just a liquor store. Nothing special. Prices are good. Service is friendly enough. I can't really comment on the beer knowledge of the staff, since I've never asked for help.

As is my caveat with every Youngstown-area beer store, be careful with dates and watch for old beer. It seems turnover for a lot of stuff is just not that high, so check dates and err on the side of caution when there aren't dates.

Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're in the area. Not necessarily a craft beer "destination," but I think most beer geeks would be content with this place.

The best craft prices I have ever seen anywhere! Selection is smaller than other places I have been to, but they make the most of their space. Great service as well and an easy drive from where I live, even though it is not close. Only problem with this place is that I don't live a lot closer.

This place has one of the best selection-to-price ratios I've ever seen. I understand that it's not cheap to carry a wide variety of quality micros/imports, but sometimes I feel like places gouge a bit more than they have to. Not at Chalet Premier. It's hard for me to make a trip to Boardman without stopping here.

It's more of a wine/liquor store with a craft beer section, but you can tell they make a strong effort to carry the best from brewers all over the country. There are always plenty of Belgian offerings as well. My only "complaint" is the same as a previous reviewer....when I'm buying craft beer I usually prefer to take home at least one mixed six-pack so I can try a couple new brews, and the mixed six-pack shelves contained a very limited number of choices.

Recently driving back from a trip at Havana House Boardman, I decided to stop in for a few drafts at Vintage Estate, on the way home I realized I didn't buy anything to go from VE. However I remembered a store I stopped at awhile back filled with some craft goodies. However it was a bit off the beaten path, and was not a beer destination the way that VE is. However, I remembered an amazing selection with well selected hard to find craft beers at state minimum pricing. I left with a case of about 12 twenty two ounce craft offerings, and it was hard not to pick out the beers I did. Alesmith, Three Floyds, Knee Deep, Iron Fist, Hoppin' Frog, etc. Crazy craft selection I've never seen in Ohio let alone Vintage Estates, this place has gotten into craft as a money maker, it's family owned liquor, wine, and beer store. Please stop and give these guys and their great wares some hard earned attention. VE is not the only player in town, this may be the best kept secret of the Mahoning Valley!

Stopped at this place last weekend while in Ohio.

Atmosphere - this is a liquor store that happens to have a good selection of craft beer as well

Quality - had their IPA's as well as other brands refridgerated, beer was fairly organized & easy to find as Belgians, Germans, Domestic craft were delineated by section.

Selection - Founders, Great Lakes, Columbus, New Holland were there, imports such as Sammy Smith, Weihenstephener, some nice Belgians to be found here as well

Value - I thought the prices for their beers were very fair, better than some of the other surrounding area's beer stores

Service - the gentleman who was working the counter was friendly& helpful but not intrusive, helped bring my haul out to my car when I was done shopping, which I appreciated

Overall - this is a great place to shop for your craft/import hankerings. My only gripe with this place is that they did have a mix a six section, but you were limited to that section only, you weren't allowed to break up other 4/6 packs that you otherwise would be interested in trying a single bottle of. Otherwise, If I am ever in the area again, I will stop and shop here.

I echo what JMO3 wrote - the Chalet is conveniently located right on Route 7 off the Ohio/PA turnpike. The beer selection is out-shined by the wine selection. But, this is THEE place to go for individual bomber bottles. They also have a nice selection of 6-packs. But, if you're looking for a mixed 6-pack, this isn't the place. The staff is helpful and very friendly, which I highly appreciate. If you're buzzing by, it's worth a quick stop. I make the trip several times a year, from Pittsburgh, simply to stock up on Stone RIS bombers. Nice.

I've been here a few times now and not to put the place down but I rarely go out of my way to go here. They have a half way decent selection of beer but they are more focused on the wine and spirits. Every once in a while they somehow manage to get a brew or two that my frequent spot does not so I like to stop in to see what's new now and then. The selection consists of most of your basic micros, DFH, Stone, Victory, Bells, flying dog, mostly regional stuff not a whole lotta imports but a few. The staff seem pretty friendly. All in all not a bad place to go but it's a little a far out there though, that is if you live north of Younstown.

I didn't know this place existed until this weekend. A few friends invited me to go this Sunday. Being that there is no other place that I know of that sells good beer on Sundays, I decided to go along. Lots of bombers and six packs lined the micro shelf. Pretty much every brewery that distributes in Ohio has some beer in this store. You can't get much better than that. Although there selection of wine, liquor and macros was much larger, I will check this store out when I am in the area.

Well worth a Sunday drive.

Stopped by this place after picking up some fireworks at Phantoms.

Selection: meh. They have a few beers I haven't seen anywhere in PA, picked up a bomber of Weyerbacher Insanity and a Monty Python. Some Rogue, a few Great Lakes, but this place seems more oriented to the macro drinker. Wine selection was pretty nice, but this is BeerAdvocate, not Wine advocate. Service was good, the people working there were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Really good prices. If the selection here were better, this place would kick ass.

A short drive from the Youngstown area, but well worth it. A large liquor and wine shop with nice selection of beers, great selection considering the area. This place caters to the wine crowd and offers a 10% case discount on wine. I recently asked about ordering cases of beers and the owner was more than enthusiastic to order cases of anything I wanted. I inquired about Stone and Unibroue and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a discount here as well. Cooler upon cooler of macros, which is typical. But the nice thing here is that they of a door of Bombers that include all of the Stone and Rouge selections as well as some Unibroue, Moylan, and a bunch of others. Down on the other side of the macros, they have anything that you could want from Great Lakes, along with Doghead Fish including 90 Min & Raison D'etre, Sierra Nevada including Bigfoot, Brooklyn including Chocolate, Bells including Oberon and Victory including HopDevil and Storm King. They have a room temp. shelf that could be a little larger, hopefully they'll commit a little more floor space...But they have Unibroue 750's and 4-packs, MiddleAges, Chimay, Leghumper, Bells, Arcadia, Weyerbacher, Thomas Hardy's, Delirium, and I'm sure that there are a ton that I'm leaving out. I'll update this after I go there next, to give a better idea of what they have. But a great selection of beer, wine, and liquor. Service is good, if you want it, and they'll leave you alone if you want that too...I was talking to an older gentalman named Bill, who I think is the owner. Very nice person who seemed genuwinly concerned how I was finding things. He let me know his reps schedual and let me write down what I wanted, so that he can get it in there for me...one of the best things ever! I decided to take it easy on him and order a case of Unibroue 750's...once I get this, I'll test him a little bit better....
