Canned 9/22/17. Reviewed 1/6/2018.
Pours to a one inch off white head that falls to a thin layer. Color is hazy dark amber-red which is typical for this style in USA micros. Aroma is crystal/toasted malts with hints of nuts and dried fruit (trail mix?). Flavor is malty, slightly sweet at first with hints of dried fruits (think plums, raisins) and a slight roasty/nutty bite. There is enough hop bitterness to balance it out and give it a decent finish. The alcohol is evident in the aftertaste and a bit in the mouthfeel, which is Moderate-full for style and CO2 is moderate as well. Overall I'd say this is a mighty tasty Irish red of the interpretation typically made in the US. It's good for Winter/Spring sipping but not a session beer due to heaviness and high alcohol.

A few bubbles around the edge of the glass and that's about it. Color is dark brown with ruby red hues. The aroma is a mix of malt and grain, prune and black grape. Taste involves equal parts malt and dark fruit as well as a hint of caramel. Finishes with a faint but lingering bitterness. Notes of wood and alcohol are eventually noticed in the distance.
This one may not be a knockout, but it finishes the match on it's feet, and I definitely like it enough to seek out more from this crew.
