Our Marzen Lager is a full-bodied German Lager crafted with German Pilsner malt as the base and utilizes two different types of German Munich malts along with a German Amber malt. (Think Oktoberfest) These malts give the beer a little bit of caramel sweetness along with some very subtle toasty bread notes. We use the same German lager strain as our Helles to maintain a traditional German taste.

From a can. Pours a caramel color with foamy cream colored head. Caramel malt aroma. Medium body. Caramel malt flavor with moderate sweetness. Delicious!

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – THE beer pours a clear deep orange-amber color with a thick head of off-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving a good deal of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a brown bread and toasted malt aromas mixed with some caramel and toffee sweetness as well as notes of a grainy bread. Mixed with these smells comes some nutty aroms of pecan and walnut as well as some light harvest fruits.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice bready and toasted malt flavor that is backed by flavors of caramel, maple syrup, and toffee. There is a little bit of nuttiness which grows slightly stronger, and a touch of earthy and herbal notes, both of which grow weaker. At the same time the sweetness gets a bit more intense and some brown bread flavors enter onto the scene. A touch of graininess joins in at the end, leaving one with a nice smooth, sweet, and pleasant lightly roasted taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is medium in effervescence. For the sweet and lightly toasted and roasted flavors, mixed with the moderate abv, the feel is rather well done, making for a nice easy drinker while still highlighting some of the nice flavors.
Overall – A quite nice, slightly sweeter, but very drinkable and flavorful marzen. Rather well done and one to give a go to if you have the opportunity.

This is my favorite of the Marzen Lager or 'Octoberfest' style. Love that I can buy year round. There is always some in my fridge, unless I drank it all and haven't made it to the store yet.
I hope that the Bitter Sister never remove it from their offerings. A local brewery that has my approval (as if they really need it).

poured from a 12 oz can
Amber-orange liquid with crazy tan head
Slight toasted malt aroma
Flavor and mouth feel is too much to me - too acidic, too carbonated, too sharp.
In the background, is some greatness (nice toasted malt finish) but the problems bring this beer down too much.

From the can, it pours a clear darker amber with a nice off-white head that slowly diminishes. Some malt in the nose. In the mouth, it is the same, caramel and roasted malts. Nice!

Great example of Octoberfest beer. Too good to only drink in the fall.

A 12 fl oz can ran me $1 USD at a Total Wine & More in Austin, TX.
Toasted Munich malt, bread crust, clean fermenting yeast.
I couldn't quaff this by the litre - as-is the goal of the style - but it's not bad fare for what it is and it's not unbalanced.

Finally! A local Marzen that’s available year-round. Malty, a little sweet, no hop bitterness, very smooth finish. My garage fridge is now filled with this beer.
