Got recommended this by a friend, not sure what to classify as until I drink it so going with double IPA on the can instead of the sour. Pours a murky pale golden yellow with a smaller thumb sized white head that falls rather quick not much lace.
Aroma is light sweet malts bready more then anything can notice the lactose. Fruits more peach for my nose then strawberries but there are hints of strawberry and graininess. No real sour notes hints of rye like spiciness more then anything. Little unusual not over powering IPA or a sour form the nose.
Taste is different then the nose malt base is grainy like wheat more so then bready from the nose. Good tart fruits also different then nose more strawberries weird like a burst of sweetness from the lactose then tart strawberry with peach hints in the finish. nose is nice sweet flavors got a lower end tart sour kick at least as far as a straight sour beer would have. Very unusual brew not much in the way of hops other then to balance then malts.
Mouthfeel is medium plus carbonation gives the tart finish a little tingling burst at the end.
Overall guess this isn't really like any Double IPA I have had on the other hand not really a normal sour. Very unusual and it seems to work. I would recommend trying this to see what you think as my palate isn't the greatest. Personally don't see having this one again as its a weird hybrid but glad I had it once.
