Lupulin Barrel God, 13% ABV. Pours thick and midnight black with a half-finger dark brown head. Nose is sweet rum and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet rum, dark fruit, chocolate, slight bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel, overall outstanding. Love me some rum stout!

2017 version aged in rum barrels. On tap at Stub and Herbs.
Dark black with a lingering tan lacing.
Not much of an aroma other than rum.
Flavors of rum, toffee, caramel. Has clearly had time to mellow the heat of the barrel.
Mouthfeel is smooth but a little too carbonated. Still a very tasty barrel aged stout.

2016 vintage. Rich, smoky, tons of barrel - a bit hot still. I was really curious about how this would age. Very good beer - Lupulin tends to be inconsistent with darker beers, but this is one of their better ones.

L: bright, deep dark brown to black under a thin tan cap with poor retention
S: Dark dried fruit, alcohol, fruit, some dark sugars, traces of chocolate and coffee, and a hint of vanilla aromas rise from the glass
T: It leads off with alcohol, a balancing hop bitterness, dark dried fruit, fig, dates, a hint of prunes and traces of dark roast coffee and dark chocolate.
F: chewy with low carbonation
O: The level of sweetness approaches cloying, the beer is almost too big making it hard to drink more than one but in the end, its intensity and complexity still make it a great dessert beer.

It’s a pitch black beer with cherry-tinted brown head that pours moderately thin and settles down pretty quick. I get a ripe cherry smell with that nutty-vanilla backbone and chocolate, coffee, very subtle banana undertones. It tastes like a chocolate covered cherry. Silky smooth, satisfying, balanced beer with excellent flavors.

Black head. Tan head. Burnt malts. Charred. Not a solid bourbon flavor. Nothing really flows with this beer. I’ve had it a few times on tap and can’t seem to enjoy it like everyone else.
