Poured from a pint can into a tulip.
Pours a cloudy peach/apricot gold with limited head, but great retention and lacing. A bit dirty looking.
The promised aroma is definitely present. Plenty of solid sweet orange aromas. Initially one-note on the smells, as the brew warms, judicious vanilla and dairy notes definitely arrive and they are spot on for the creamsickle idea.
The brew delivers on the flavor as well, and isn't overly sweet as feared. Blood orange and ruby red grapefruit assault the tip of the tongue. In midstream, creamy vanilla flavors arrive, and it really does taste like there is milk in there. The finish is citrus pith and faint resin. And it all works.
The brew is somewhat beyond medium, but nothing feels "full" about it, owing to the welcome citrus acidity and more hop balance than feared.
Other than the look (It isn't ugly but it isn't super appetizing either--and it doesn't look like a creamsickle, so that isn't an excuse for looking sort of dirty), this thing knocks it out of the park. It delivers on the flavors promised in the name, yet doesn't end up being a sweet novelty. It's very well balanced, very flavorful, and is still a real IPA, delivering just enough citrus rind and resin to tingle the tastebuds.
