Aged 21 months in Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon Barrels, then aged 13 months in one Kentucky Owl Bourbon Barrel and one Sazerac Rye Whiskey Barrel.
11.2oz Bottle. Bottled Jan 2025. Drank 10/3/2025. Kept cool and in a fridge until bottle opening.
I start drinking this one at a cold fridge temp. And I'm glad I did because I liked it better when it was on the colder side. When it got warmer the rye spice became stronger than I like and the booze came out more. It had some spice and booze bite to it at warmer temps.
Look: Black body, no light passed thru. Short but persistent brown head. Low carbonation.
Smell: Chocolate, booze, rye, raisin Smells good.
Taste follows the nose with hints of molasses, anise, wood, vanilla. When It was on the cold side about half way thru to the finish there was some red wine.
Feel: It was smoother and thicker when on the cold side.
This is a good beer. It's not wimpy. I sipped on this bottle for about 1 hour. This beer is all about barrels, and the barrels are on the strong side.
