Poured from a growler into a snifter, the beer is jet black, with a low profile, dense, light tan head. Aromas of heavily roasted malts, subtle char, cocoa nib, and earthy highlights. Flavors are rich chocolate forward, with a heavy roast and solid bitterness. Subtle highlights of vanilla, coffee, and solid earthy highlights. Rich and bold throughout, on a smooth, big body. The aftertaste is heavy cocoa nib, both bitter and slightly sweet. Smooth, heavy, slick finish, with a solid bittersweet linger of chocolate and roast. Good beer.
