Criminal Mischief - our collaboration brew with the Roosevelt's T Leggett brings a unique twist to craft Vermouth.
Featured by Robey Martin ("Bitter is the New Black") for Richmond Mag in early March, the long-awaited release happens this Sunday, May 15th at the brewery's taproom in Carytown, RVA after months of barrel ageing.
This "beer-mouth" was brewed with an assortment of locally grown ingredients (aronia berry, rosemary, lemon thyme) and botanicals from around the globe (bitter orange, chamomile, vanilla, hibiscus flowers, juniper berries, coriander, fresh Valencia orange peel); along with an addition of Cabernet Franc grapes grown by Naked Mountain Winery & Vineyard in Markham, VA.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
Pours a clear amber rose hue, thin lacing. Smells of wild flowers, herbs, and spices ... orange peel, hibiscus, and chamomile are the most noticeable. Mellow boozy warmth compliments the botanicals that mimic Vermouth. A little bitter, juicy and tart in the finish. More than enough beery character to let me know it is still a beer, pretty far out there. Long live extreme beer!
