A 440ml can with a BB of June 2019. Purchased just the other day from ASDA. Hopped with Columbus, Summit, Centennial and Simcoe.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. A deep orange-amber colour with faint haze and good carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a moment or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of richly aromatic hops with hints of pine resin, weed, leafiness, citrus peel, subtle tropical fruit, caramel malt, mild barley sugar and ale yeast. Hop-heavy and rather good.
T: Tastes of powerful aromatic hops with notes of pine resin, dank weed, citrus peel, leafiness, mild tropical fruit, caramel malt, subtle barley sugar and ale yeast. Slightly sweet, followed by a strident hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Pretty astringent; dries the palate thoroughly. Aftertaste of intensely bitter aromatic hops, pine, weed, mild citrus, caramel malt and ale yeast.
O: Pretty good - a seriously hoppy DIPA. The ABV might be too low for some but the hops live up to the style. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are intensely hoppy; pine, weed and citrus are all underpinned by caramel malt and ale yeast. Nice body. I can't help feeling that the malt bill doesn't match the hops and could do with beefing up, however this is still a tasty brew. Good to see this type of beer making its way into a supermarket. Worth sampling.
