Really nice Black IPA. Notes of citrus and tropical fruit from Galaxy and Nelson Sauvin push through.
Firm but not overwhelming bitterness. Minimal black/dark malt character

On tap:
Pours dark brown, with a surface-covering white-tan head. Pour filled the glass, so buildup of head is indeterminate, but it is lasting. Lacing is strong early in the drink.
Nose is somewhat surprisingly citrus in nature. I get orange and grapefruit, a little pith bitterness, and finally some light chocolate notes.
Taste is similar-the citrus notes actually hit first. These are more quickly followed (than I noticed in the smell) by the malt notes. The malty side hints at chocolate, but actually seems more nutty to me, especially as the taste lingers. I the end, I get the citrus back, but this time, it's the rind flavor- bitter.
Feel is nice and smooth. Given the appearance and feel, I did double check this wasn't a nitro pour (initial viewing as it was handed to me also had no indication of this).
My first beer by these guys, and boy! Am I impressed. Rare for me to love a Black IPA, but this one hit me dead in the right spot today. Really interested in more from this brewery after this.
