Fresh keg at Smoke and Barrel (kegged 8/11). Love the emphasis that Ocelot places on freshness.
Appearance: Looks good. Very light color for a DIPA. Just darker than pilsner, yellow slightly leaning toward orange. Big head. Good retention and good lacing.
Aroma: Big, dank, fresh hop aromatics. Leans a bit more toward the dank and resiny side than I like but some fruit pushes in as well. Very green. This could be due to the extreme freshness. Still nice to smell and big aromatics.
Flavor: Pale, sweet malt structure. Opens with light, grainy malt and piney resinous hops. Turns juicy mid palate with hints of citrus and berry. Finish is long, resiny, and green with a firm bitterness. All the flavors are on point and the beer is well-brewed, but not my favorite hop profile.
Feel: This certainly drinks easy for 9%. Bitterness is firm but never wrecking. Carbonation is about medium, along with the body. Pretty dry. Finish is long and lingering as mentioned above.
Overall: Maybe the least favorite DIPA I've had so far from these guys, which should give you a clue what I think about them (they're awesome). Super well brewed/constructed (and fresh!) just not my ideal hop profile
