On tap at brewery:
Not first time having this, but I saw I hadn't reviewed it.
Pours near black with a nice tan head. The head has numerous large soapy bubbles in the foam. Lacing is reminiscent of Halloween decorations - spider webs and amalgous heads.
Nose is roasted malt that has a coffee aspect to it. There's a very light dark molasses sweet note in the mix as well.
Taste is a tad on the sweet side, especially up front. The coffee joins in and the result is a light licorice flavor. A very little bite of alcohol might act as the spice to this impression.
Somewhat silky, almost smooth feel. A little tingle from carbonation and perceived alcohol break up this near full bodied offering.
Tasty, but the sweetness could be toned down a tad for my tastes. A flavored coffee that still shows the coffee is a very general impression.

Poured at the Brussels Beer Fest in August 2017. Pours motor oil black. Nose is tobacco, chocolate, (heavy), dark fruit (cherry, raspberry), smooth, no bitterness. Taste is chocolate, marshmallow, tobacco, dark fruit. Great mix of flavors. So complex, but very smooth. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy.

Very roasty and smoky brew. Mostly dark roast coffee, with some nuanced other character for balance.
