Pours a dark brown. Caramel, almonds, some chocolate fudge. Is there such a thing as an almond snickers? I imagine that would taste like this. Again there’s a little bit of harsh alcohol presence. This was good, but I was expecting a touch of smoke or peat to come from it.

Sweet caramel malts, bourbon, toffee, toasted malts, and brown sugar. Gets significantly better as it warms up.
Overall a very good BBA barleywine; liked it a lot.

Genuinely not sure when I got this, probably late 2016. In any case, was refrigerated from that point until now. Poured into Behind the Veil glass and let warm.
L: 1F very slightly off-white head. No lacing, just a thin ring. Beer is dark brown, a little lighter brown at the edges.
S: Bourbon and barrel, not very strong. Caramel malt and dark pit fruits. Really quite nice.
T: Pretty much as nose, but caramel malt really dominates up front, dark fruits really resonate from middle to long after. Bourbon barrel factors in late. Definitely on the sweet side. Just about no alcohol heat.
F: Pretty close to full-bodied. A little bit of carbonation. Construction and balance are pretty solid.
O: A great barrel-aged effort by a brewery that doesn't have a lot of experience doing it. Good things to come.

Poured into a snifter. A clear walnut brown on the pour with a ruby dark brown color in the glass. A shy tan head developed and left quickly. Caramel up front on the nose, followed by raisins, vanilla, and finally bourbon. The taste followed suit for the most part. Lots of caramel and rich malt, plums, raisins, and toffee. The whiskey took hold on the finish. It was understated but played well with the rest of the beer. Gently warming on the finish. A bit more than medium-bodied. Very enjoyable.

The beer pours a nice and interesting creamy tan head that dissipates fairly quickly but leaves a ring around the inside of the glass. The beer itself is a nice very dark brown with a good texture that has a thinness from the aging but still maintains the weight a wee heavy would have.
The smell is pretty good. The caramel malt note comes out strongly with some light bourbon note.
The taste is pretty good and better than the taste. The bourbon note is moderate and rather being front and center, it's supplementing the caramel and light roast notes and some light dark fruit notes as well. However, the caramel note is the strongest one even though it blends well with the others.
The feel is good. The beer has a heavy body with tingling carbonation but the thinness from the aging detracts from what you would expect of the style.
Overall, this is a good beer. It has an interesting and complex taste but it isn't overwhelming so you can discern the different taste notes.

A: This poured an opaque dark mahogany with quickly dissipating tan head.
S: It smelled like sweet raisin and balsamic and molasses, with some honey wheat bread and nutty toffee.
T: It tasted like sweet raisin and prunes and balsamic, with some honey wheat bread and molasses. It had a clean and sweet aftertaste with some alcohol warming.
M: It was oily with a little carbonation. Nice slick body, but could have been fuller.
D: This was a fantastic brew with bold and complex and delicious scent and taste. The body was only ok, and the finish was a little hot, so it was better to sip. A little age would probably do this well, but it's still a top tier beer fresh. Highly recommended, as long as you have a sweet tooth.

Beautiful ruby color. Carbonation only amounts to some bubbles.
The nose is world class and the flavor follows suit. There should be a line for this bottle/pour.
It could use an uptick in barrel coming through, despite this its still awesome.
