Thought this was a tasty beer but not an English IPA.

On tap at brewery:
(Note: as of this review, the style was American IPA, though the board clearly says English IPA at Ocelot, I am reviewing as an English IPA)
Pours an almost cloudy orange, but with a sticky off-white head that provides striated lacing.
Nose is initially all grain, less moist than brew day smells but similar to that. Giving it time brings out a floral and citrus notes, helping the rating in this aspect. There's also a light honey seeetness that comes out.
Taste doesn't seem to yield an English IPA start, as I'm used to. I guess it's a malty opening, but it's more honey-wheat to me. There's nothing indicating wheat here, but it keeps coming up in my senses.
Ok, this beer is more balanced than an American IPA, as expected. The bitterness doesn't wallop you, but the Jester hops do seem to give a neutral to floral (to tropical, even) bitterness.
Ok, I started enjoying this beer more and more as I drank it. It still leans malty to honey sweet, and might be better if you come at it as a straight APA, but is an enjoyable quaff. I'd also be really interested if wheat is involved somehow.

Pours a nice white head that dissipates quickly. Beer is a cloudy medium yellow. Interesting look for an English IPA but falls on the border.
Smell is good. Tropical fruit note of mango and sweet orange juice. Grapefruit notes.
Taste is the same with a light pine.
Medium body and very smooth. A bit juicy but acceptable. Very light carbonation.
Overall, happier than you would expect a English IpA to be but worth having a pint of.
