Nitro pour at brewery:
Black body in the middle of the glass, withdeep mahogany streaks at the edges where light finds a way to penetrate. A lovely nitro creamy tan head settles in atop the normal under-the-surface cascade of gas settles out.
A straightforward roasted malt nose. Highly toasted grain bread aspect comes through a little stronger than a lightly astringent black coffee note.
A light feel, countered by a decently robust roasted malt flavor. Comes across as a little watery in thickness more than smooth. Definitely dry.
Flavor, like the nose is fairly straightforward roasted malt, dark toast with a bitter char aspect. There’s a little reedy sweet grass flavor in back that joins the bitterness from the charred malt. Warmth seems to bring just a little bit of sweetness, but I may just be getting used to the beer. Well done, somewhat robust but not overpowering dry stout.
