L: Had this beer on-tap at Growlers to Go - Short Pump, poured into a snifter glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored, somewhat long-lasting head. Average lacing.

S: A very nice aroma of coffee, roasted malt, cherries, and chocolate.

T: Tasted of a fair amount of roasted malt (present throughout), lots of cherries (a big component), some coffee (less than expected), and a decent bit of chocolate. An interesting combination of flavors. You wouldn't think coffee and cherries would work well together, but in this case they do. Pretty tasty.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An interesting, well done stout. Worth a try.

On tap at brewery:
Damn near black with a creamy, fairly dense tan head of over a finger in the smaller pour. Lacing in sheets, as expected from such a cap.

Nose is very heavy on coffee, as expected given the two coffee plant additions (bean and cascara). Good or bad, there’s little else - bold fresh roast coffe and perhaps a hint of berry, but I may be stretching for something else.

Taste hits with roasted malt and coffee, followed by a slightly tart, cranberry and blackberry note. These fade back into the coffee void. The coffee has a bitter bark as the liquid rolls over my palate. There’s a little hit of dark brown sugar/caramel sweetness that becomes more evident as the beer warms.

If you’re not a bold coffee fan, you might want to try a sip of this before ordering. My girlfriend liked it, likely due to the sweetness she though because she’s not a coffee fan.
