Can dated 7/15:
A pout into my Ocelot glass yields a near white beer - one where you might wonder if you accidentally poured an Allagash White. The fairly voluminous white head was also fairly densely packed, significant initial lacing is erased as I refill to generate a near creamy white cap. The lacing returns, however, equally as impressive as I drink the beer to empty.
Nose has a melon sweetness and a tropical fruit opening, and then I start getting coconut, leaning towards suntan lotion. Some light lemon citrus and even banana sneaks from underneath - mostly suggestions that mingle with the tropical notes.
A liquid of medium heft with a nice softness greets my palate. A fairly clean malt presence, there seems to be a hint of the wheat and oat with a light nuttiness and even lighter banana note - ones that show up briefly then hide until the later taste. Hops are adding flavors of lime leaf, coconut, melon rind up front. Then there is a brief interlude where the oat flake adds a little taste that brings about a macadamia-like flavor in some sips. Eventually some young pine branch and reedy lemongrass seems to end the taste. Finish is medium dry. Except the flavors aren't done; that pine branch seems to slowly become coated with a resin that sneaks in over time.
So the hop profile and presence in this beer reminds me a little of the original beers Ocelot brewed. The feel and flavors of the flaked adjuncts definitely provide a change from those days, and that might work in its favor or not, depending on your tastes.
