On tap at brewery:
Deep brown, pretending to be black with a creamy tan leaning beige head. Roast jumps out to my nose first, with a burnt toast guise. The edges have some fruit blossom to soften this a tad.
First sips were dry, carbonated, and a tad spicy. Things settled a tad, but there is a medium light bite from hops or bubbles or both. Roasted malt again drives things, but with a woodsy edge thanks to hop bitterness. The hops bring a citrus edge to the late taste / finish - orange rind and sweet ruby grapefruit.
Back to the nose, and the citrus has fought to near even with the roast, improving things from my first assessment of the fresh pour.
