Although Yaroslavl, where this beer is brewed, is very close to Moscow, I had to go to Western Siberia to find this particular product. In a gas station, no less. Comes in a silver and purple can with the standard Yarpivo design - nothing but letters. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 3/9/04, I opened it on 3/21/04. A bit late.

Pours a very attractive clear copper hue under a two finger beige head that lingers well and leaves some pretty good lace. The nose is mild, but characterized by caramel. The mouth is not overly carbonated and medium sweet-heavy. There's a nice caramel opening, but I miss a decent hoppy follow-up. There's a bit of bitterness, but it is much too subdued. The aftertaste is all caramel. Sure, I'd be happy to have another one, hopefully before its expiration date!
