Comes in a 1.5l brown plastic bottle with a white and gold label featuring the Yaroslavl brewery's seal and the words "Amber Special" in English. Everything else is in Russian. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 7/13/04, I opened it on 5/23/04.
Poured a pretty standard, perhaps slightly dark, clear gold under a one finger white head that fades quickly to film and collar. No lace. The nose is quite pleasant: hint of sweet plum to go with lots of barley malt. The mouth is light and very (excessively) carbonated. There's a good sweet malt opening, with a hint of fruit, followed by ... nothing - just bland and watery. Basically, there are no hops here, and therefore no finish. A nice start is allowed to fade into nothingness. Pity. This is not a horrible beer, but ain't no great shakes, either.
